
MANILA, Philippines — The World Kickboxing and Karate Association (WKA) Philippines will hold its National Boxing and Kickboxing Championships on April 29-30, 2026, at the Sorsogon Provincial Gym in Sorsogon City.
The two-day event will feature competitions across multiple disciplines, including mat sport, low kick and light kick kickboxing, as well as ring sports boxing and kickboxing. Activities begin ahead of the championships, with a full schedule of courses and preparations.
On April 27, the WKA will conduct its National Referee and Judge Course covering boxing, mat sport and ring sports kickboxing. This will be followed on April 28 by the WKA Boxing, Kickboxing and Muay Thai Trainer Course, along with the official weigh-in of athletes.
Competition begins on April 29 with the Mat Sport Low Kick Light Kickboxing Championship. The event concludes on April 30 with the Ring Sports Boxing and Kickboxing Championships.
The championships will feature participation from 18 clubs: SAPMMAYCC - Sorsogon City; Lipata Fight Club - Tabaco City; Jobowtack - Legaspi City; Bicol Martial Arts Club - Legaspi City; Biagtan Muay Thai - Naga City; Sanggariya MMA - Tabaco City; RDC Dojang - Antipolo City; Saba Martial Arts Academy - Camarines Sur; Lozano Martial Arts Club - Daraga, Albay; Urban Fight Pack Academy; SML Fighting Club; Warriors MMA Academy - Daet, Camarines Norte; Olaño Martial Arts Center - Legaspi City; New Born MMA - Albay; Bacelonia Fight Club - Albay; CCMAIDO - Naga City; Kaliks Tais Martial Arts Club - Daraga, Albay; Aromin Combat Style - Gentri Cavite; Valencia Martial Arts - Cebu City; and Fight Club Ranao - Marawi City.
The event will also be streamed live, powered by Prestige Combat.
WKA Philippines President Ramil Serit emphasized discipline and character in a message to participants.
“Train with unwavering discipline and fight with purpose, because every step you take reflects the honor of WKA Philippines and the warrior spirit of our nation. Stand strong, stay humble, and remember that true champions are built not just by victories, but by the courage to rise every time they fall,” Serit said.
Founded in October 1976, the WKA is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Over the decades, it has produced a roster of world champions, including Benny "The Jet" Urquidez and Bill "Superfoot" Wallace. The organization continues its operations under the leadership of Dave Sawyer.
