South Park creators troll Donald Trump by changing name of show to 'South America'

Donald Trump has been busy lately, mostly focusing his energy on renaming things – specifically geographical locations.

He has signed an executive order to change the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America, following previous one changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Over the weekend, he also suggested renaming the state of New Mexico as New America, and in a recent AI slop posting rampage, claimed that the Moon was American. Yes, seriously.

In light of his attempts to rename a gulf, a lake, a state and maybe soon a celestial body after "America", one television show has made things simpler for Trump by instigating a name change for him...

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of South Park, have mocked Trump by announcing that their show will be rebranded. From now on, it's not South Park - it's South America, with the change happening just in time for the long-running show's new season, which premieres next week.

The popular satirical cartoon has never shied away from mocking Trump and his antics, but this is a bold new move.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone said in a statement: “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA. We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount - a Skydance Capitulation.”

Indeed, both Apple and Google have accepted the changes and kowtowed to Trump by reflecting the rebrandings on their maps – something which critics have labelled "cowardly" and "weak".

Parker and Stone have repeatedly satirized and ridiculed Trump and his administration, depicting Trump as having a relationship with Satan, showing an animated Trumpwith tiny genitalia, and portraying former homeland security secretary Kristi Noem as a Botoxed puppy killer.

On Sunday, South Park won its fifth Emmy for Best Animated Show.

Parker and Stone could help but use the win to take a dig at Trump, posting an image on Instagram that showed Trump clutching the Emmy award. With his underwear around his ankles.

“You finally got your Emmy,” read a message at the top of the image.

This must have stung for Trump, who has complained repeatedly about the TV awards in the past due to him never winning an award for The Apprentice - the competition series he hosted from 2004 to 2015.

“The Emmys were horrendous…the absolute worst show,” Trump wrote on X in 2012, adding in another post: “The Emmys are all politics, that’s why, despite nominations, The Apprentice never won - even though it should have many times over.”

The 29th season of the newly rebranded South America will premiere on 16 September and stream globally on Paramount+.
