Southeast Asia’s first permanent TOMICA Factory will officially open on June 27, 2026, inside the TOMICA Brand Store at Toys“R”Us, Suria KLCC in Kuala Lumpur.

Tomy executives say Malaysia key to Asia expansion strategy
At the launch, representatives from Tomy Co. Ltd were present, including senior general manager and Head of Asia Strategy Division Saitoh Katsunori, as well as Tomy Asia managing director Ochiai Kiyoshi.
Saitoh said opening a TOMICA store in Malaysia is part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the Asian market and expand the brand to wider audiences across different age groups.
Ochiai added that the company has been studying the Malaysian market for some time and found strong demand for TOMICA products.
“In the past three years, we have joined several expos and conventions in Malaysia and saw so many people purchasing our die-cast TOMICA cars,” he said.
He described Malaysia as a “mature market” for the brand, noting strong collector interest as a key reason for the store opening.

Custom assembly experience and exclusive KL store models
At the new TOMICA Factory, visitors will be able to customise and assemble their own die-cast vehicles, selecting parts such as the chassis, body, windshield and seats before watching the model being assembled.
The finished cars can then be tested on a dedicated track.
The KL outlet will also feature over 2,000 models, including Mainline, Premium, Unlimited and Limited Vintage series, alongside a large TOMICA wall display.
Three models will be available exclusively at the KL store: the Lamborghini Urus, Lamborghini Veneno and Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport.
Since its launch in 1970, TOMICA has been known for its detailed 1:64 scale die-cast car models, which have built a strong global collector following.
Potential Proton and Perodua model
Both executives also indicated early plans to explore Malaysia-inspired exclusive models in the future, including potential designs based on local car brands such as Proton and Perodua.
