SPEAKER Faustino “Bojie” Dy III urged Filipinos to build a more inclusive future as he greeted the LGBTQIA+ community this Pride Month.
LGBTQIA+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual/aromantic/agender, plus other related identities.
Dy, the congressional representative of Isabela’s sixth district, made the push in a video message.
“This Pride Month, we celebrate the courage of being true to oneself and the right of everyone to live with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity,” he said.
Dy added that wherever we come from and whatever our beliefs or identities, we all have a place in society.
“No one should experience discrimination or belittlement because in a just and modern country, respect for a person’s dignity is not a privilege of a few but a right of all,” he said.
“Equality means ensuring that every person is seen, heard, respected, and allowed to thrive. When people are free to live authentically and contribute their talents without fear or prejudice, our communities become stronger, more compassionate, and more united,” he said.
