With the objective of providing quality healthcare facilities to elderly patients, a dedicated Geriatric Care OPD has been started at the Civil Hospital.

Senior Medical Officer (Surgeon) Dr Satwinderpal Singh stated that due to the high patient load in government hospitals, elderly patients often had to stand in long queues to consult doctors and undergo tests, which caused inconvenience.

Keeping these challenges in mind, the Civil Hospital has launched a special geriatric healthcare service under the campaign “Sade Bazurg Sada Maan” (our elders, our pride). Under this initiative, separate queues and seating arrangements have been made for elderly patients during OPD hours. Additionally, nursing students have been specifically deployed to guide and assist senior citizens in availing healthcare services smoothly.

Dr Satwinderpal Singh further said special arrangements have been made in Room No. 7 for conducting tests of elderly patients, including blood sample collection. Nursing students have also been assigned the responsibility of ensuring that elderly patients receive free medicines without having to stand in queues.

Senior citizen Darshan Dardi appreciated the initiative and said elderly residents are satisfied with these services. He added that healthcare facilities at the Civil Hospital have now become more accessible and convenient for senior citizens.
