
LOS ANGELES - Sony and Marvel's superhero film Spider-Man: Brand New Day led North American box office charts for the third weekend in a row with an estimated US$70 million, according to data released by measurement firm Rentrak on Sunday, reported Xinhua.
The film, based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man and starring Tom Holland as the titular hero, has grossed US$785.8 million in North America and US$2.022 billion worldwide, making it Sony's highest-grossing release ever, ahead of 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Universal Pictures' epic action film The Odyssey came in second with US$23.2 million in its fifth weekend.
The film, directed by Christopher Nolan, has now grossed US$504.68 million domestically and US$1.29 billion worldwide through Sunday.
Rounding out the top three, Warner Bros.' science fiction thriller The End of Oak Street opened in third place with US21 million. - BERNAMA
