To strengthen the culture of sports in government schools and providing better opportunities to students, physical education teachers from the state are receiving specialised training at the National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala. As part of the Samagra Shiksha initiative, a five-day training programme for 139 teachers commenced at the NIS.

During the training, teachers would be introduced to modern sports techniques, fitness management, sports psychology, sports nutrition, coaching methodologies and the latest developments in various activities. The primary objective is to familiarise teachers with sports science and modern training systems so that they can provide more effective and high-quality training to students.

Rajesh Sharma, Director, Samagra Shiksha, said Samagra Shiksha was continuously working for the holistic development of students and sports education was an important pillar in this effort. A total of 650 physical education teachers from the state would be provided training in a phased manner at NIS-Patiala.
