The viral Ferrari driver involved in the SS15 road rage incident has officially been dropped as a business partner of Stoned & Co, the brand’s founder has confirmed.
Founder Andrew Ngo said the decision was driven by boycott calls against the brand and the luxury car driver’s conduct, which had tarnished its image. He explained that the incident prompted social media users to link the driver’s behaviour directly to the brand, resulting in reputational damage.
“When this issue arose, many parties issued negative statements not only against the individual involved but also against the company.”
“As the founder of this company, I wish to clarify that the individual concerned has been dropped as a business partner and no longer has any connection with this business,” he said.
Andrew added that he understood the incident had caused public disappointment and anger, prompting the company to take decisive action by severing ties with the individual and issuing a statement to help ease the situation.
He also revealed that the company initiated a community outreach programme for the SS15 area, distributing more than 200 items of clothing along with free food yesterday (16 January). According to a post by Stoned & Co, the giveaway concluded within an hour, with more than 250 items claimed.
Meanwhile, the Ferrari driver has since surrendered to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), as confirmed by the Subang Jaya district police chief. Prior to this, the driver had reportedly contacted the dashcam owner on two occasions to apologise and offer compensation, but received no response.
In a report by Harian Metro, Andrew reiterated that the luxury car driver has no affiliation with the brand and is no longer part of the company.
