State Government's initiatives benefit hundreds of thousands in Sabah

KOTA BELUD: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has emphasised that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has delivered on its commitments through rising state revenue and wide-reaching assistance programmes.

He said state revenue had increased to more than RM7 billion compared with RM4 billion previously, while some 400 initiatives under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) plan had been rolled out, with 94 per cent already implemented.

From 2021 to 2024, the State Government spent RM1.49 billion on welfare aid benefiting more than 336,000 recipients, alongside RM385.5 million this year for the Sentuhan Kasih Rakyat programme which supports 100,000 people from poor and hardcore poor groups.

The 2025 State Budget has allocated RM488.5 million for poverty eradication programmes guided by the Padans database, while RM1.33 billion has been channelled to human capital development including scholarships now increased to RM138 million compared with RM50 million previously.

Hajiji also underlined the State Government’s focus on new wealth creation through the Blue Economy and enhanced participation in the oil and gas sector, while continuing land surveys under Pantas and distributing land grants, welfare aid, housing keys and school contributions in the district.
