Aaron Rodgers is back with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and his return has quickly lifted the mood around the team’s offseason programme.
The 42-year-old quarterback reported for organised team activities after signing a one-year deal, giving Pittsburgh clarity at the most important position.
Rodgers’ return also reunites him with Mike McCarthy, adding another layer to a season where the Steelers are trying to build on a 2025 Wild Card appearance.
Steelers welcome Aaron Rodgers back as quarterback plan takes shape

Michael Pittman Jr. said the California native had already made throws that reminded him of the level he is playing with in Pittsburgh.
Troy Fautanu also welcomed Rodgers’ return, saying it felt like the quarterback had never really left the huddle, while Payton Wilson added that Rodgers makes practice harder for the defence in seven-on-seven work.
The 42-year-old was also praised by Alex Highsmith, who called him a ‘great dude’.
The reaction matters because Pittsburgh’s quarterback room is now clearer. Rodgers is the starter, with Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and rookie Drew Allar also part of the group.
That gives the Steelers both a short-term answer and developmental depth. Allar, taken in the third round, can learn without being forced into immediate action.
Rodgers’ 2025 production explains why Pittsburgh waited. He completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 3,322 yards, with 24 touchdowns.
His return does not remove every question. It does, however, give the Steelers their leader back before the season’s real work begins.
