Strictly star Will Best welcomes first child immediately after live show: ‘I haven’t slept for a few days’

Strictly Come Dancing star Will Best has announced the birth of his first child, a baby boy named Sonny Best born shortly after last Saturday night’s live show.

The Big Brother host, 41, is currently competing in the BBC dance competition alongside professional dancer Dianne Buswell. He revealed that his partner, fashion stylist Tobi Rose, was pregnant ahead of the show’s debut last month.

In a series of videos and photos, Best unveiled his newborn baby to his fans on social media and confirmed in a BBC interview that his son arrived on Sunday (11 October) morning.

In the clip filmed in the hospital, the TV presenter says, “I got this really cool new thing today. Lots of people get them but they are pretty cool” before panning down to the baby boy nestled in his arms.

He then shared photos of the baby with Rose, and a final video of himself struggling to keep his eyes open with the newborn in his arms. “Are you very tired?” Rose can be heard saying in the background.

Best captioned the post: “Well who do we have there then?! Welcome to the world Sonny Best, you little smasher. @robiroseofficial you’re a miracle and I love you so much. A couple of tired new parents (see last slide) but oh my goodness aren’t we lucky xxx.”

Referencing his future on Strictly, Rose commented: “What’s worse Will Best, a new born baby and no sleep, learning the jive on no sleep OR learning the jive at the same time as having a new born baby and NO sleep?”

Best and Rose were showered with well-wishes from fans and peers, including his Strictly partner Buswell, who welcomed her own baby with Joe Sugg last year.

New Strictly host Josh Widdicombe added: “Holy moly!!!! Congratulations mate!” while Zoe Ball added: “Welcome Sonny, congratulations to you all.”

“Awww yay!!! Welcome Sonny Best! So excited for you! Congratulations to you and Tobi. Hope you’re all doing well. Go and smash it on that ballroom floor for your little family!” said It Takes Two presenter Fleur East.

The news was also shared on It Takes Two where Best revealed he was a father in a pre-recorded clip, stating: “I do have some big news to share… My amazing, beautiful fiancee and I have got a baby now. We’ve got a little baby!”

He added: “Sunday morning, he arrived – and he’s amazing, and Tobes is going really well. And yeah, it’s the most surreal, wonderful thing. I haven’t slept for a couple days.”

Best is due back on screen tomorrow night (Saturday 17 October) for Icons Week, where the TV presenter will become Elton John as he and Buswell take on a Jive to the 1973 hit song “Crocodile Rock”.
