Wolfsburg have signed forward Robert Glatzel from SV Hamburg, the relegated Bundesliga club said on Tuesday.
Wolfsburg said that Glatzel receives a two-year contract and he arrives for a reported fee of €1.5 million ($1.72 million).
Glatzel scored 84 goals in 150 Hamburg games but was not a regular starter in the past season when Hamburg were back in the top flight after seven years in the second tier.
"With his physical presence and eye for goal, which he has demonstrated far beyond just the second Bundesliga, he will add a great deal to our attacking play," Wolfsburg sporting director Pirmin Schwegler said.
"On top of that, his experience on and off the pitch will be of enormous value to us.”
Wolfsburg are aiming to build a strong team in order to achieve immediate promotion back into the Bundesliga and have also signed Fabian Reese from Hertha Berlin.
They were relegated for the first time after three decades in the top flight last month in a play-off against Paderborn.
