KUALA LUMPUR - A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 was detected on the Minahassa Peninsula, Sulawesi, Indonesia, at 12.25am today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a Facebook post, said that the earthquake was centred at coordinates 0.1 degrees South and 120.6 degrees East, at a depth of 10 kilometres, 116 km northeast of Palu, Indonesia.

According to MetMalaysia, tremors were felt in Tawau, Lahad Datu, and Semporna in Sabah, but posed no tsunami threat to the country. - BERNAMA
