Strong Group taps Navarro for Jones Cup bid

Former Korean Basketball League forward William Navarro is set to reinforce Strong Group Athletics in its bid fir a third straight William Jones Cup championship from Aug. 8 to 23 in Taipei.

The 6-foot-7 Navarro will be lending his vast international experience to the Philippine club, which ruled the tournament’s last two editions.

The 29-year-old Navarro, before being released by the Busan Egis KCC last May, averaged 5.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 21 games.

KCC won the KBL crown for the 2025-26 championship after beating Goyang Sono Skygunners, which had Rookie of the Year Kevin Quiambao.

Navarro is currently a free agent.

His PBA rights are now owned by the Titan Ultra.

The Gian Risers traded their rights for Arvin Tolentino to the Magnolia Hotshots for Navarro recently.

Navarro, who also played a few years back for Gilas Pilipinas, adds size and experience for Strong Group, which will be reinforced by former NBA big man Boban Marjanovic, along with Dave Ildefonso, DJ Fenner, import Tajuan Agee, and collegiate standouts Allen Liwag and Titing Manalili.
