LABUAN: Member of Parliament Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman advised the “new team” in Labuan Corporation (LC) to focus on the revival of the local economy by luring more investors as well as adopting enterprise-friendly measures.
He said such measures are important to create a conducive environment for investors and existing traders to expand their businesses.
Congratulating the new appointees, Suhaili said the situation in Labuan was worrying as seen by the fact that it had failed to bring in investors over the past 15 years despite it being a free port.
“As a result, there is an exodus of job-seeking youths as oil and gas activities are contracting, tourism declining, little or no spill-over effects from the financial service centre status, population not expanding and retail businesses suffering,” he said.
