Switzerland coach Murat Yakin still doesn't know whether Luca Jaquez will be able to play in the World Cup round of 32 match against Algeria.
The defender is struggling with muscle problems and may have to sit out Thursday's game in Vancouver.
"We're trying to get Luca fit in time. If not, we have two alternatives," Yakin said.
For Algeria coach Vladimir Petkovic, this is a special match-up. The Bosnian served as Switzerland national team coach from 2014 to 2021.
"It's a great pleasure to see so many players again," said Petkovic, who didn't want to make a big deal out of the circumstances, however.
"This isn't a game of Vladimir Petkovic versus Switzerland or Vladimir Petkovic versus Murat Yakin," he said.
