Kota Kinabalu: A man pleaded not guilty to having 35.45 grammes of syabu.

The accused, Alpindi Murphy, made the plea before Sessions Court Judge Marlini Ibrahim, when the charge was read to him on Friday.

Alpindi is accused of having the syabu at 10.15am on Feb 24, at a house in Beaufort.

The offence under Section 12(2) Dangerous Drug Act and punishable under Section 39A(2)(r) of the same Act carries a jail term of between five years and life imprisonment and whipping of not less than 10 strokes, on conviction.

During the proceedings, the court was told that the chemist’s report was not ready and set May 19 for pre-trial case management.

Pending the date, Alpindi was ordered remanded further.
