Arsene Wenger rejected the chance to sign Mario Lemina when he was in charge of Arsenal.
The 25-year-old midfielder has publicly stated his desire to leave Southampton this summer.
Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is happy to see Lemina moved on, according to the Daily Mail.
Manchester United, Atalanta and Leicester City are all interested in the 25-year-old.
Arsenal also like the look of Lemina, but Metro says he could already be a Gunner if Wenger didn't stop the move.
Under Wenger, the Gunners used a the expertise of analytics company StatDNA to help with recruitment and they identified former Juventus midfielder Lemina as a target.
However the Frenchman prohibited the move due to a perceived lack of experience from the then-23-year-old.
