Tan Sri businessman charged with cheating Datuk Seri tycoon of RM10 million

A BUSINESSMAN with the title Tan Sri was charged in the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur today with four counts of cheating another businessman, Datuk Seri Keh Chuan Seng, involving RM10 million last year.

Tan Kean Soon, 62, pleaded not guilty to all charges after they were read out before Judge Azrul Darus.

According to the charges, Tan allegedly deceived Keh, 55, into handing over RM5.5 million and S$1.5 million in cash through an associate of the complainant.

He allegedly induced Keh to believe that he could resolve the freezing of the latter’s personal and company bank accounts by police, as well as assist in settling a police investigation linked to money laundering.

The alleged offences took place at car parks in Kuchai Lama, Dataran Maybank in Bangsar, a hotel in Pavilion and Kampung Pandan between March 23 and 25, 2025.

The charges were brought under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment of between one and 10 years, whipping and a fine upon conviction. - October 21, 2026
