Malaysia’s top mixed doubles pair advances to the last eight in Ningbo, while other national pairs exit the tournament

MALAYSIA’S top mixed doubles pair, Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, have stormed into the quarter-finals of the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships.

The reigning world champions and world number four pair needed just 37 minutes to defeat India’s Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto 21-13, 21-14 in their second-round match.

They will now face South Korea’s Kim Jae Hyeon and Jang Ha Jeong in the last eight.

There was no such luck for Malaysia’s two other mixed doubles pairs competing in Ningbo.

Goh Soon Huat and Shevon Lai fell to Taiwan’s Chen Cheng Kuan and Hsu Yin-Hui 21-10, 15-21, 16-21.

Wong Tien Ci and Lim Chiew Sien were thumped 8-21, 14-21 by China’s Guo Xin Wa and Chen Fang Hui.

National women’s singles shuttler K Letshanaa also saw her campaign end in the second round.

She was defeated 14-21, 8-21 by South Korea’s Sim Yu Jin in 33 minutes.
