SANDAKAN: Kampung Tanjung Pisau and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tanjong Pisau have been selected as the Kampung Angkat Madani and Sekolah Angkat Madani locations for the 2026 programme.
The programme, launched by Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director-general Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah, aims to strengthen ties between the agency and the coastal community.
Mohd Rosli said RM500,000 was allocated for the Kampung Angkat Madani programme, while RM100,000 was allocated for the school, bringing the total allocation to RM600,000.
He said six projects would be implemented, including upgrading two jetties as well as facilities at SK Tanjong Pisau, the community area and the fence of Masjid Haji Yaakob.
He also urged coastal communities to act as the authorities’ “eyes and ears” by reporting suspicious activities, security threats or emergencies at sea, while ensuring adequate safety equipment, monitoring weather conditions and wearing life jackets.
