TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) Sabah Branch student Daniellyn Izabel Tan has made history as the first Sabahan to win the Miss Globe Malaysia 2026 title.
The Diploma in Business Administration student secured the Miss Grand Sabah 2026 crown in June before winning Miss Globe Malaysia 2026 a month later.
Her victory has earned her the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the international Miss Globe pageant, which is scheduled to be held in October.
While her eloquence, poise and stage presence have helped her stand out in the pageant arena, Daniellyn said her journey has also been shaped by discipline, self-development and her willingness to step outside her comfort zone.
Instead of focusing solely on her studies, the former SMK Tansau Putatan student took part in various university events and group activities, which she said helped develop her confidence and communication skills.
“Being around different people and learning how to work with others helped me become more confident and comfortable in expressing myself, which made me more assertive when representing myself on stage.
“Balancing my studies, pageantry training, and extra-curricular activities requires a lot of discipline on my part. However, it also becomes a great learning opportunity and litmus test for my abilities to communicate effectively, organise my duties, and handle high-pressure situations gracefully,” she said.
Beyond her studies and pageantry commitments, Daniellyn is also involved in community work through Hearts of Impact, an organisation she founded to support underprivileged students with limited access to educational opportunities.
“This is something very close to my heart because I believe education can make a meaningful difference in someone’s future, so my organisation supports this cause by providing essential educational supplies, and enhancing awareness among young Malaysians that they are capable of achieving their dreams through education, regardless of their circumstances,” she said.
Daniellyn said representing Malaysia on the international stage was both an honour and a responsibility.
“Even at this point, I cannot believe I have reached this stage and every time, I feel incredibly grateful and honoured.
“As Miss Globe Malaysia 2026, I strive to represent Malaysia and Sabah with pride, confidence, authenticity and purpose.
“Most importantly, I want to make my country and my state proud, and I hope my journey can inspire more young people to chase their dreams no matter where they come from,” she said.
Daniellyn will represent Malaysia at the Miss Globe international pageant in October, following her back-to-back victories at the state and national levels earlier this year.
