TAWAU: Tawau holds strong potential to become the main venue for the professional ‘Call Out Combat’ championship, which could in turn attract more local participants to compete at the international level.
Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah president Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah, said he had informed the Sabah Youth and Sports Minister for Tawau to be chosen as the host location for future international-level events.
He said that one of the key factors in favour of Tawau is its strategic proximity to the future Indonesian capital, Nusantara, in East Kalimantan, an advantage that could help draw more international tourists to witness the event.

“Personally, I would like to thank all the participants. Despite the lack of government funding, the professional ‘Call Out Combat’ tournament successfully drew significant interest from the younger generation,” he said.
Liew was speaking to the media after attending the professional ‘Call Out Combat’ tournament at the Indoor Hall of the Tawau Sports Complex, here, Saturday.
He added that the sport has great potential to produce athletes across various age groups, ultimately enabling Sabah to compete on the international stage.
“We hope the sport can be further expanded to other areas such as Kalabakan, Semporna, Sandakan, and other districts in Sabah, to allow more young athletes to participate.
“At the same time, the safety of all participants must be prioritised to avoid any untoward incidents,” Liew added.
