Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government needs to look into getting a fair share of income taxes collected from businesses derived from the State which are Federal income and Sabah gets little or zero share of this income.
Small and Medium-Sized Entrepreneurs Association of Sabah (SME Sabah) Founding President Prof Datuk Foo Ngee Kee said this can be another source of big income for Sabah that could further contribute more to the State coffers.
Hence, he said the State Government should pursue and table for discussion with the Federal Government to get the rightful share of this huge income derived from investment companies like SK Nexilis, Kibing, Esteel and others that Sabah brings in.
“While the Sabah Government is spending millions of ringgit to develop the economy and bringing in billions in investments (RM9.4b year-to-date), there is no corresponding share of the income taxes paid by these enterprises for Sabah.
