Team GB’s Amy Hunt hits out at Sydney Sweeney’s controversial sports trading advertisement

Team GB athlete Amy Hunt has responded to Sydney Sweeney’s sexualised advertisement campaign for sports trading app Novig.

The actor appeared in an ad, released on Wednesday (9 September) in various states of undress, promoting an array of sports such as ice hockey, American football, tennis, and basketball.

The Novig campaign has been criticised by some, including athletes such as Hunt, who told the BBC: “This is what women in sport look like. Muscles, hard work, sweat, blood, tears.”

Sweeney appeared to respond to criticism on Sunday (13 September), sharing Instagram Stories featuring male and female athletes who have posed nude in their careers.

Novig founder and CEO Jacob Fortinsky told Front Office Sports that Sweeney approached the company herself and was “interested in some kind of equity partnership.”

Sweeney said she had been part of “the creative conversations from the very beginning,” in an interview with Complex.
