The Faridabad police on Monday arrested a youth for allegedly murdering a teenager over Rs 500. The victim had reportedly borrowed the amount from the accused and was killed for not repaying it.
According to the police, the Dabua police station received information on the morning of June 6 that the body of a teenager was lying in a vacant plot behind the Air Force Station in Oriya Colony. A police team reached the spot and took the body into custody.
After a preliminary investigation, a murder case was registered. The deceased was identified as Akash (15), a resident of Nangla Enclave, Part 2, Faridabad. The arrested accused has been identified as Rohit, alias Fatela (18), a resident of Surjawali village in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh.
The police said the victim and the accused had known each other for about one and a half years. Around two and a half months ago, they had gone to a club in Gurugram’s Sahara Mall, where Rohit paid Rs 500 as Akash’s entry fee. Rohit later demanded the money back several times, but Akash allegedly kept avoiding him. The police said Akash’s family had also refused to pay the amount.
“On June 5, accused Rohit had come to Faridabad to appear in court in a theft case. Around 9.30 pm, he took Akash from his house. The two sat together in the Ghazipur area and consumed beer. During this, Rohit again demanded his Rs 500. As the argument escalated, the accused stabbed Akash several times in the chest and abdomen with an awl. He then strangled him with a towel and fled the spot. It was a blind murder, but our police team arrested the accused within hours. We are questioning him,” said a spokesperson for Faridabad police.
