
Kota Kinabalu: Installation of a Bailey bridge is under way at the damaged bridge at Km 2.85, Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens (Tanjung Lipat), said State Works and Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam.
He said the temporary bridge is being installed by the Sabah Public Works Department (PWD).
“The immediate measure is aimed at restoring access and ensuring road users can travel more efficiently, comfortably and safely,” he said in a statement, Wednesday.
Joachim, who is also Deputy Chief Minister I, said the temporary crossing will remain in use while a long-term solution is implemented.
“Based on current progress at the site, installation of the Bailey bridge is expected to take between two and three weeks to complete.
“The timeline is subject to weather conditions and technical factors at the site,” he added.
Motorists are urged to remain patient and comply with all traffic instructions and safety signboards throughout the construction period.
Joachim said every effort would be made to complete the works as quickly as possible in the interest of public safety, while apologising for the inconvenience caused.
