Tenom: Farmers and the public from across the State have been urged to attend the Sabah Farmers’, Livestock Breeders’ and Fishermen’s Day (HPPNS) celebration, to be held at Padang Pekan here from Oct 23 to 25.
State Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaffar said hosting HPPNS in Tenom for the first time gives the community a chance to honour the contributions of farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen.
He said the event will also serve as a platform for the public to obtain information on assistance, subsidies and opportunities provided by the government in the agri-food sector.
Officers from the relevant agencies will be on site to brief visitors and help them obtain information on the various facilities on offer, he added.
Jamawi said the event will be officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on Oct 24 at 10am.
“We can see for ourselves and if we are interested, there are officers there to register us for subsidies, assistance and anything else in the agriculture industry.
“Come in large numbers to Padang Pekan Tenom on Oct 23, 24 and 25, because giving back to the land is something that benefits everyone,” he told reporters after officiating the World Rivers Day celebration at Dewan OKK Sanggau Jalang in Pekan Melalap here.
A range of activities and programmes will be held throughout HPPNS, involving farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen and the local community.
