I used to believe that having more friends equated to a better life when I was younger. Every strategy, every event, and every discussion should include me. I thought that being by myself meant I wasn't significant, so I was frightened of missing out. As I get older, I've come to a very different realization. Attempting to fit in areas where you don't really belong is considerably less valuable than finding peace.
I don't feel the need to justify myself to everyone these days. I don't mind if someone misinterprets me. I don't mind if someone decides to leave. I've discovered that not all relationships are designed to continue forever and that not all misunderstandings require an explanation.
One thing I've observed is that when you quit looking for approval, life gets lot lighter. You are no longer concerned with who sent you an invitation, liked your post, or responded to your message. Rather, you concentrate on those who regularly support you. Because they are based on sincerity rather than convenience, those are the kinds of relationships that are worthwhile.
Learning to say "no" without feeling bad is another way to keep your peace. You are not required to go to every event. Not everyone's problems need to be solved by you. To avoid disappointing other people, you don't have to compromise your own well-being. You eventually come to the realization that trying to please everyone all the time is one of the quickest ways to lose yourself.
With work, money, obligations, and unforeseen difficulties, life is already stressful enough. Unnecessary drama is the last thing we need. I've grown more cautious about who I let into my personal space as a result. You don't have to give your time, energy, or ideas to everyone. While some people simply contribute negativity, others offer encouragement.
As I become older, I value quiet mornings, deep conversations, spending time with family, and little moments that don't have to be shared online. Happiness isn't always audible. After a long day, sometimes it's just having a calm heart. I would always choose peace if it means having fewer people around me but more true happiness inside of me.
