ALOR SETAR – Perlis Bersatu has allegedly fallen victim to political manoeuvring and betrayal by certain parties, which has weakened the party’s position in the state.
Kota Siputeh assemblyman Mohd Ashraf Mustaqim, in a Facebook post claimed that party members had long been aware of the situation but chose to remain patient to uphold party discipline.
He said the alleged betrayal had nothing to do with Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
“The truth will eventually come out that Bersatu has been bearing the consequences of the betrayal that took place in Perlis due to the greed of certain individuals and a power arrangement that had nothing to do with Muhyiddin.
“As loyal Bersatu members, we have known this for a long time and remained patient out of discipline within one family,” he wrote.
Ashraf also claimed that he had opposed the situation in Perlis from the outset and had voiced his objections to what he described as acts of betrayal.
He said Bersatu had no choice but to endure the situation in order to preserve party unity and respect its relationship within the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
In the same post, he alleged that certain individuals were attempting to weaken Bersatu from within.
He also claimed that the party in Perlis had become paralysed after many of its members allegedly joined a group he regarded as having betrayed PN.
He concluded his statement by saying he will leave the matter to fate.
“It’s okay... Time will be the judge. Allah is the Most Just,” he wrote.
