Sabah Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) welcomed and fully supports the Kota Kinabalu High Court’s decision directing the Federal Government to carry out a review of the 40 percent special grant for Sabah’s revenue share under Articles 112C and 112D of the Federal Constitution.
The party described the ruling as a significant victory for the people of Sabah, marking the first formal review in 48 years of a constitutional right guaranteed under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). Sabah PKR said the restoration of the 40 per cent entitlement is not merely a financial issue, but a symbol of justice and respect for the spirit of MA63.
The party urged both the Federal and Sabah Governments, once formed, to hold discussions within the 90-day period ordered by the court to ensure the effective implementation of the 40 percent special grant. It stressed its commitment to being the people’s voice in ensuring that this constitutional right is no longer delayed by bureaucracy or partisan politics.
“As a party founded on the principles of reform, transparency, and good governance, PKR believes that restoring this revenue share will strengthen the state’s ability to reinvest in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and the welfare of Sabahans,” it said.
Sabah PKR also reaffirmed its support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership and the Malaysia Madani vision, which emphasizes fairness, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
The party vowed to continue standing firmly with the people and the Prime Minister in ensuring the full implementation of Sabah’s rights under MA63, including the periodic review of the 40 percent special grant — a right that has belonged to the people of Sabah since the formation of Malaysia.
“Hope for Sabah,” the statement concluded.
