Kota Kinabalu: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said local parties must stand united in rejecting political games aimed at destabilising the State Government.
“There are certain parties who want the State Election to be held immediately and because of this they have already started attacking us and trying to divide us using old tactics,” he said when officiating the GRS Youth Movement at Sabah International Convention Centre, Sunday.

“First, they look for ways to divide us and try to provoke us. Like the recent videos that have come out.

“Once we are divided, they create confusion among the people, accuse GRS leaders.

“If you look at their leaders (opposition), they have been going up and down the court, some have been charged, yet they are still there (in their parties).

“We will defend and strongly support our Chief Minister because our work is not done yet.
“We will bring them (opposition) to fight in Sabah’s political arena so that we have the opportunity to drive them away, wrap them up and send them back.
Saying enough is enough, Jeffrey said Sabahans have been colonised for so long. “Sabah is our land, Sabah is our home. Do not disturb our home.
“Do not play around. This time the people of Sabah understand, they are fed up. Of course we also have friends.
“Friends are still a friends, but do not make us angry. Do not come here and take our seats.”
Jeffrey said during the formation of Malaysia, we were already allocated our respective seats. Peninsular Malaysia’s seats, Sabah’s seats, Sarawak’s seats.
“They already have 65 per cent of the seats. Sabah and Sarawak should have 35 per cent. But now they (peninsula) already control 75 per cent of parliamentary seats and they want to take the remaining 25 seats.
“They want to contest in the State Election, want to take and contest every single seat. But this time, we give them an egg, a big egg (zero votes).
“They say they are Sabah leaders, too. Yes, but they are traitors. Do not be a traitor. Be a patriot for Sabah.
“So in the coming elections remember not to become traitors or support parties that will invade your home.
“They will take our revenue, they want to take over political power and they want to take all the seats. We were fooled and played with but now we understand, we are wise and we will defend our dignity and our people,” he said.
He said although Sabah’s revenue had increased, this is GRS’ achievement, raising revenue to almost RM7 billion. But it is not enough to solve the problems such as water and electricity issues.
“If they pay the 40 per cent, the 40 per cent revenue is a huge figure, approximately RM20 billion. If we add the RM20 billion with the RM7 billion we potentially have RM27 billion which we can use to develop Sabah. But what we receive is only RM600 million.
“If we unite, we can regain our rights. As long as we are divided, as long as we are trapped in their games, we will always remain the same.
“Brothers and sisters, you are potential leaders, can vote at 18, can also be voted for. But, as potential leaders, we need leadership qualities to inspire others.
“What is also important is that we must play our role as a team. We must be team players.
“I know these young leaders are impatient to become candidates and GRS leadership will open space for youths to become candidates.
“Similarly with our Wanita. We will give space but we must be prepared,” he said.
The GRS coalition comprises Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, Parti Star, PBS, SAPP, Usno, LDP, Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah and Parti Cinta Sabah.
