Thirteen men charged over alleged involvement in ‘Geng Captain Praba’ organised crime group

THIRTEEN men were brought before the Sessions Court  in Sepang today to face charges of being members of an organised criminal group known as ‘Geng Captain Praba’.

The accused are M Lavindran, 27; M Meganathan, 37; M Tinesh, 20; K Utayaragu, 29; M Thinesh, 31; S Jeevan, 19; J Sangaranarayanan, 28; P Joshua, 35; M Devindran, 25; M Nokarju, 29; S Tivagaran, 22; S Logeswaran, 26; and D Vijayakumar, 36.

No pleas were recorded after the charges were read in Tamil before Judge Ahmad Fuad Othman, as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The alleged offence was committed at an oil palm plantation along Jalan Mahang, Kampung Sungai Jarom, Jenjarom in Kuala Langat between December 2023 and 11 September 2025.

The charge, framed under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years upon conviction.

The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohamad Mustafa. Ten of the accused — Lavindran, Tinesh, Utayaragu, Thinesh, Jeevan, Joshua, Devindran, Nokarju, Tivagaran and Logeswaran — were represented by defence counsel P Kunyalam.

Meganathan, Sangaranarayanan and Vijayakumar were unrepresented.

The court denied bail and fixed 10 November for further mention of the case to allow for the submission of documents. - October 8, 2025
