Thomas Tuchel was unable to hide his frustrations with the officials despite England’s historic World Cup victory against Mexico.

Harry Kane could not hide his delight after captaining England to a quarter-final tie against Norway on Saturday evening.

However, the 32-year-old found himself right at the centre of the action after scoring a penalty and then giving one away at the other end of the pitch.

It only took Alireza Faghani one minute to hand out the first yellow card of the game to Declan Rice, with six shown throughout the course of the game.

Tuchel was not impressed by the selection of the officials and how they conducted themselves during the England game.

What Thomas Tuchel said about the FIFA officials after Mexico vs England

Jarell Quansah was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge in the second-half, which will see him miss the game on Saturday against Norway.

Rice, Marc Guehi, Nico O’Reilly and Jordan Henderson also had their names taken by the referee.

“It’s just not good enough,” Tuchel told BBC Sport after the game.

“The referees are just not good enough, fourth officials are just not good enough. That’s the bottom line.

“Three people in the VAR from South America in a match like this. VAR overturns [but] is this a clear and obvious error for the penalty? For sure not. They overturned a situation where [the referee] doesn’t even give a foul. Referees just not good enough, fourth officials just not good enough.”

The officiating at this summer’s World Cup has already come under serious scrutiny following the recent controversy involving Folarin Balogun.

Donald Trump thanked FIFA for overturning Balogun’s red card, which has not sat well with supporters and pundits across the globe.

There have now been 13 red cards shown at this summer’s competition.
