KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Harapan’s Api-Api candidate Thonny Chee has urged for a structured social support network to ensure senior citizens in the constituency receive the care they deserve.

Chee said many older residents had spent their lives building Api Api and should not be forgotten as the city continues to grow.

He said his engagements with seniors highlighted recurring issues such as health complications, mobility difficulties, loneliness and challenges keeping up with rapid digital changes.

Chee proposed initiatives including free health screenings, dedicated transport services, neighbourhood support groups and small entrepreneurship aid tailored for the elderly.

He added that youth volunteer programmes could bridge generational gaps, saying seniors deserve to be supported with dignity and remembered with love and attention.
