KUALA LUMPUR police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus has confirmed that toxicology and post-mortem examination reports into the death of Taiwanese social media influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin, better known as Iris Hsieh, will take three months to complete.
Speaking to the New Straits Times, Fadil stated that the police will continue to conduct a thorough investigation in the meantime.
“(Controversial rapper) Namewee surrendered at the Dang Wangi police headquarters around 2am today. We have since obtained a remand order until Nov 10 to facilitate further investigations into the murder,” he said.
However, Fadil declined to comment on whether additional arrests would be made in the case.
Yesterday, police named Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, as a person of interest in the investigation into Hsieh’s death.
The 31-year-old influencer was found dead in the bathroom of a hotel room on Jalan Conlay in Kuala Lumpur on 22 October. Reports indicate that Namewee, 42, was in the same room at the time of the incident.
Namewee, who has previously been charged with drug use and possession and is currently out on bail, reportedly reported to a Kuala Lumpur police station early today.
He had travelled from Johor Baru to the capital for the appointment.
In a Mandarin-language Instagram post at around 1am, Namewee wrote: “I will fully assist the police in their investigations, and be accountable to the public and the family of the deceased.”
Authorities have emphasised that investigations remain ongoing, and all relevant legal and forensic procedures are being followed to ensure a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Hsieh’s death. - November 5, 2025
