Thunderstorm warning issued for most states until 7pm

MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms and heavy rain across multiple states, including Perlis, Perak, and Johor, with Sarawak and Sabah also affected.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain in several areas nationwide, effective until 7pm today.

The affected states include Perlis, Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In Perak, the conditions are expected in Larut, Matang and Selama, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.

The warning for Pahang covers Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Jerantut, Bentong, Maran, Kuantan and Rompin.

In Negeri Sembilan, the affected districts are Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau and Tampin.

The entire states of Melaka and Johor are also expected to experience the adverse weather.

In Sarawak, the warning applies to Serian, Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah, Bintulu (Tatau), Miri (Telang Usan and Marudi) and Limbang.

The warning also covers Sabah’s Interior division, including Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau and Tambunan.

Areas on Sabah’s West Coast, such as Papar, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud, are similarly affected.
