Thunderstorms, heavy rain forecast for almost all states until 5pm

KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds for almost all states, as well as Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, until 5pm today.

MetMalaysia's 2.30pm alert said that the severe weather covers the whole of Perlis, several areas of Kedah, including Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling and Langkawi, and several districts in Perak, including Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim.

The warning covers Bachok, Kota Bharu, Jeli, Kuala Krai, Gua Musang and Tanah Merah in Kelantan and Dungun, Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus and Setiu in Terengganu.

Other affected areas are Temerloh, Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong and Bera in Pahang; Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Hulu Langat and Sepang in Selangor; and Seremban, Jelebu and Kuala Pilah in Negeri Sembilan.

In Johor, the warning covers Kluang, Mersing and Kota Tinggi.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Miri (Marudi dan Beluru) as well as Limbang, while in Sabah, they include the interiors (Sipitang, Beaufort, Membakut, Keningau and Tambunan), as well as Ranau, Papar and Penampang in the West Coast. - BERNAMA
