KUALA LUMPUR - Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has settled the RM50 million fine imposed as a condition of his conditional pardon, allowing him to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.

The payment was made by Umno at the Criminal Registry of the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Friday.

The decision was made at the 64th Pardons Board meeting.

Sept 19, 2026 – Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar said the Malaysian Prisons Department would finalise the standard operating procedures (SOP) for implementing house arrest after receiving the official letter on the Pardons Board’s decision.

Nov 4, 2026 – Najib’s residence in Langgak Duta, Kuala Lumpur, once again drew attention following speculation that he would be allowed to serve his sentence under house arrest. The development also brought attention to Umno’s efforts to raise funds to settle the fine.

Nov 6, 2026 – Umno announced that contributions to the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund, launched on Sept 18, had reached the target and were sufficient. The party also confirmed that all payment procedures at the Kuala Lumpur High Court had been completed.
