MANILA, Philippines — Titan Ultra stepped up on its offense in the final period to hack out a 102-98 victory against hard luck Blackwater in their PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup game on Wednesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Giant Risers drew 25 points from Joshua Munzon, while import Michael Gilmore had 21 and 15 boards. Aris Dionisio chipped in 11.
Blackwater had a chance to send the game into overtime, but Christian David missed a four-point attempt in the dying seconds, allowing Titan Ultra to escape with its second win in five starts.
The Bossing, who suffered a record-setting 56-point drubbing at the hands of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, dropped to 1-4.
Robert Upshaw III and Sedrick Barefield scored 25 points each to carry much of the scoring load for Blackwater. Dalph Panopio was the only other local to score in double figures with 10.
David struggled anew on offense, finishing with just seven points on a miserable 3-of-15 shooting. The 6-foot-6 big man managed grab 12 rebounds.
