DEFENDING champion TNT and crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra resume their respective playoffs bids as they take on separate foes in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal.
The Tropang 5G face the Titan Ultra Giant Risers at 5:15 p.m. while the Gin Kings collide with the sputtering Terrafirma Dyip at 7:30 p.m.
TNT and Ginebra enter their respective games tied at fourth to fifth spots with similar 4-2 win-loss cards.
TNT and 7-foot-3 import Bol Bol practically led the whole game before holding off Blackwater’s fourth quarter uprising to post a 99-94 win recently.
Bol dropped 48 points as he dominated the paint and flashed his stroke from the outside.
Against Titan Ultra, the six-year NBA veteran will have a slew of veterans to help him out such as Calvin Oftana, Roger Pogoy, Rey Nambatac and Jayson Castro.
The Giant Risers are coming off a 103-82 setback at the hands of the Converge FiberXers.
Ginebra, meanwhile, will be shooting for its third straight victory against Terrafirma, a team that has lost its last four games.
The Dyip won their first three games but have been on a tailspin since.
Justin Brownlee, the three-time Best Import winner, will be at the forefront of the Gin Kings offense along with veterans Scottie Thompson, RJ Abarrientos, Troy Rosario and Stephen Holt.
Defense, however, will be Ginebra’s trump card once again but will have to find ways to contain Terrafirma’s seven-foot import Ali Mubashar and top local scorer Jerrick Ahanmisi.
