
Engaged in a neck-and-neck contest throughout the game, TNT needed to lean on the trio of Bol Bol, Jordan Heading and Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser in the second half to turn back Macau, 119-112, to step up its quarterfinal bid in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
Bol delivered 20 of his game-high 37 points in the second half, Heading scored 17 points in the last two quarters while Ganuelas-Rosser had 12 in the third canto to lead the Tropang 5G’s offensive.
Heading scored two free throws with 23 seconds remaining, giving TNT a 115-112 lead.
Macau guard Damian Chongqui then, muffed a potential go-ahead four-point basket on the other end, which eventually led to Heading making four more free throws to seal TNT’s sixth win in nine starts to seize solid third spot.
The win was a big bounce back for TNT following its stinging 97-92 setback to Converge.
Meanwhile, the Black Knights bowed out of contention with their eighth loss in nine starts.
Phoenix Shackelford led Macau with 31 points.
