MANILA, Philippines — TNT stayed composed in the face of Blackwater’s endgame rally to pull off a 99-94 win in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup on Tuesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
The Bossing came charging back from a 10-point deficit and closed in at 94-95 off a Sedrick Barefield trey with 44.6 seconds remaining in the match.
But that proved to be the closest Blackwater could get, as TNT wingman Calvin Oftana scored on a feed towards the end off a Roger Pogoy feed, while 7-3 Bol Bol later, iced the game with a pair of free throws as the team won its first back-to-back games for the conference.
Bol, the six-year NBA veteran, dropped 48 points in another do-it-all effort as TNT climbed up ro a share of fourth and fifth spots with Barangay Ginebra at 4-2.
Blackwater continued its free-fall with its third straight loss, dropping to 1-5, in a tie for 10th and 11th spots with Converge.
The loss also spoiled interim coach Patrick Aquino’s debut at Blackwater since replacing Jeff Cariaso a few days ago. RICHARD DY
