AirAsia co-founder Tan Sri Tony Fernandes found himself flying with a rival airline after failing to get an AirAsia flight.
In an Instagram post, Tony shared photos of himself onboard a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight, saying he had taken SIA because he “couldn’t get” an AirAsia flight.

Praises service, but not the food
Despite flying with a competitor, Fernandes had some good things to say about the experience.
He praised SIA’s service and internet connection, writing that the “service was great” and the internet was “amazing”.
But when it came to the food, he was less impressed and called it “poor”.
His carousel post also included a photo of his inflight meal, which appeared to consist of noodles served with beef, vegetables and a red gravy.

Fernandes then compared the meal with AirAsia’s own inflight food brand, Santan, saying it was “far far better”.
He even claimed that members of the SIA cabin crew agreed with him.
Still, he ended his post on a positive note, calling it a “great flight” and saying AirAsia was “not far off” from SIA overall.
Not his first time flying SIA
This is also not the first time Fernandes has flown Singapore Airlines after being unable to get a seat on AirAsia.
Back in 2023, he similarly shared that he had to take an SIA flight after AirAsia was fully booked for three consecutive flights.
