Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Economic Development Corporation (Sedco), through its subsidiary Sedcovest Holdings Sdn Bhd, is working with City Hall (DBKK) to revitalise Anjung Selera and Anjung Perdana in Likas into a premier waterfront destination.
The initiative aims to enhance the area’s appeal by improving tourism, gastronomy, entrepreneurship, culture and community activities, in line with Kota Kinabalu’s vision of becoming a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable city.
The upgrading works are already underway as part of efforts to improve the visitor experience ahead of Visit Sabah Year 2027. Sedco Group General Manager Datuk Ar. James Wong Kein Peng and Mayor Datuk Seri Sabin Samitah jointly chaired a strategic discussion on the initiative, with Sedcovest Holdings General Manager Yahyah Sidek also in attendance.
During the meeting, Sedcovest Holdings presented its proposed upgrading plans for Anjung Selera, including beautification of the beachfront and improvements to public facilities.
Wong said the collaboration would help create a more vibrant waterfront while providing greater opportunities for local entrepreneurs and communities.
“This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to creating a vibrant waterfront that not only enhances the city’s tourism appeal but also provides greater opportunities for local entrepreneurs and communities.
“By working closely with DBKK and Sedcovest Holdings, we aim to establish Likas Bay as a landmark destination in conjunction with Visit Sabah Year 2027,” he said in a statement.
Sedcovest Holdings currently manages Anjung Selera, while Anjung Perdana is under DBKK.
Both parties have also agreed to explore joint initiatives to revitalise Anjung Perdana and strengthen its connectivity with Anjung Selera.
A joint working committee has been established to evaluate the proposed initiatives and develop an integrated approach for the Likas waterfront.
The collaboration is expected to boost tourism, support local entrepreneurship, improve public recreational spaces and contribute to Kota Kinabalu’s long-term socio-economic development.
