In the ongoing theatrical saga of the Tourism Minister and the Menteri Besar of Kedah, it seems they have traded their swords for verbal sabers, turning political discourse into comedic affair. Or is it just a joke between two political foes?
From disputed rice requests in Sadao to the dubious naming of mystery dishes, this feud has more twists and turns than a Thai street market.
Sanusi, the culinary critic, claims he laughed off Tiong's rice accusations, turning a culinary faux pas into a diplomatic chuckle.
Yet, Tiong, the protocol pundit, fires back, questioning the MB's grasp of etiquette and respect, creating a clash more awkward than a tourist's attempt to adapt to Thai table manners.
The pot-bellied deity remark and the facial aesthetics critique have added a touch of personal charm to this political comedy across the border into Thailand.
Forget promoting tourism; these two could consider acting in a series of stand-up comedies as a side gig. You may call it Tiong and Sanusi comedy show. That might pull in more badly needed tourists into the country.
As the tourism statistics get thrown into the ring like confetti, it appears both leaders are wrestling with blame over the unequal visitor numbers. It seems that more Malaysians are keen to visit Thailand than the reverse.

Will this banter boost or break Kedah's tourism?
Only time will tell. Meanwhile, Sanusi's rugby invitation suggests he is not just playing the political game but is ready for a friendly match.
