Toying with danger: Police tracking owner of MPV

POLICE are investigating an incident where two children were spotted sitting on a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) while the vehicle was on the road, an incident which has since gone viral on social media.

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah, said that so far, no report has been received regarding the incident.

However, he said, the police are tracking down the owner of the vehicle.

"We will identify them. If it is a child, we will investigate under the Children Act 2001," he told Astro Awani.

Earlier, a video went viral showing two girls sitting on the top of the Toyota Alphard MPV.

The children are believed to have climbed in through the sunroof while the MPV was on the road.

The incident, which was recorded by a road user, is believed to have occurred starting from the Meru exit to Jalan Jelapang-Simpang Pulai, next to the North-South Expressway.

Netizens have since condemned the dangerous act and called for action to be taken. – September 3, 2026
