KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 - A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.7 struck northern Sumatra at 12.18pm today, with tremors felt in several areas along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

The Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the quake was centred at 4.2º north and 97.6º east, at a depth of 10km.

“The epicentre was located about 55km southwest of Langsa, Indonesia,” it said in a statement.
