
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday said that Tropical Storm Basyang is currently over the Bohol Sea and is making its way to Central Visayas.
In its 8 a.m. bulletin, the weather bureau said that the center of the tropical storm was estimated to be over the coastal waters of Malimono, Surigao del Norte, moving west northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
“Basyang will move generally west northwestward throughout the forecast period. On the forecast track, the center of Basyang may pass close or make landfall over Bohol and southern portions of Cebu and Negros Oriental. Afterwards, it will emerge over Sulu Sea, pass close to Cuyo Islands, and cross the northern portion of Palawan,” Pagasa said.

The weather bureau said that “Basyang” will remain a tropical storm while traversing Central Visayas and Negros Island Region. It could weaken into a tropical depression by Friday night or Saturday morning and downgraded to a low pressure area by Sunday morning.
