Locally-made navigation app, TuJu, has experienced technical issues following a sharp increase in users after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim encouraged Malaysians to consider using it as an alternative to Waze.
In a statement issued today, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) acknowledged complaints from users and apologised for the inconvenience caused.
Efforts underway to fix the issues
According to LLM, it is working with the app’s developer, Prosignal Consortium Sdn Bhd (PCSB), to identify the causes of the technical problems and restore system stability.

The team is also working to improve the app’s capacity to handle the growing number of users.
Apart from the technical disruptions, LLM said it has received feedback regarding the app’s navigation functions, accuracy of route information and overall user experience.
It assured users that improvements would continue to make TuJu more reliable, accurate and user friendly.
App introduced in November 2025
TuJu was launched on Nov 26, 2025, as a locally developed highway navigation app through a collaboration between LLM and PCSB.
Besides providing directions, the app offers traffic information, highway facilities and emergency assistance features.
The app recently gained attention after Anwar encouraged Malaysians to consider using it instead of Waze, citing concerns over data security and information about users’ movements.
The government also issued a directive on Oct 21 banning civil servants from using Waze following a decision by the National Cyber Security Committee (NSC).
Further improvements promised
LLM stressed that restoring system stability is only part of its efforts, as improvements to navigation accuracy and functionality are also important.
It added that it would continue working with the Works Ministry, National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) and other relevant parties to strengthen the local navigation ecosystem, including data security and governance.
The authority thanked users for their patience and said further updates on the app’s recovery and improvements would be shared through official LLM and TuJu channels.
